Stress and Anxiety: What’s the Difference?

Stress and anxiety are two of the most usual problems that people deal with. People, who experience these two, often have difficulties differentiating which is which. These two have so many similarities especially in their effects.

Anxiety is a human’s body’s response to dangerous situations. One good example of anxiety is phobia. Anxiety helps a person to stay alert during situations that need it. Anxiety also helps a person to stay focused and motivated to solve problematic situations.

Stress, on the other hand, is a person’s body’s response to daily activities. Stress is caused by life’s daily pressures. People get stressed while studying, working, doing house chores or while taking care of their children.

Usually, stress leaves a person the minute he or she finishes the activity. For example, while working, you may feel stressed, but once the work is done, the stress is usually gone.

Anxiety can help people solve tough problems, but once the level of anxiety overwhelms a person and once it becomes constant, then that’s where the problem begins. Once a person experiences heightened levels and once a person becomes anxious more often, the experience can be terrifying.

Now, as for stress, once it is accumulated, many different illnesses may come up. In fact, many studies showed that stress is one of the common factors to almost 80% of all illnesses known today. Stress is said to be a factors that can lead to irritable bowel syndrome, panic attacks, and depression.

Methods for managing anxiety and stress may also be the same. Meditation is one of the most effective ways to handle stress and anxiety. This technique has been performed for thousands of years and millions of people are doing this in order to improve their health or get rid of anxiety attacks and get out of depression.
