Insomnia or wakefulness is a type of sleep problem categorized under dysomnia, which is characterized as the inability to fall and stay asleep. This may not sound bad, but to those who suffer from it, it is among of the most terrible conditions that a person can develop.

Not being able to get enough sleep can have so many consequences. Studies suggest that people suffering from insomnia usually have lower reflex, concentration and poor memory. They may also fall asleep during the day. But aside from this, it can also cause many different conditions like stroke, high blood pressure, heart problems, depression, anxiety attacks, etc.


To deal with their insomnia, most people use medications. It is true that medications provide fast results. However, these results are only temporary. Thus, many people rely solely on medications just to be able to get enough sleep.

Another way you can deal with insomnia is by going to a therapist. A therapist will provide you with a treatment known as cognitive behavioral therapy, which is very effective in getting rid of insomnia. The problem, however, is that usually, therapy sessions cost a lot more money and not many people can afford to undergo this treatment.

Now, there are other cures for insomnia. Many experts believe that what you do inside your bedroom affects the quality of your sleep. Therefore, you need to make sure that you don’t do other activities inside your bedroom except sleeping and sex.

You also need to eat right, which means, include vegetables, fruits and fishes in your diet. Only eat lean meat and cut down on your caffeine intake. If you smoke and drink alcohol, it is better if you avoid them, because they are also known to cause wakefulness.

Practicing meditation and other relaxation techniques can also help in dealing with wakefulness. Meditation has been practiced for so many years. It has proven to be very effective in relaxing a person’s mind and body, thus, allowing a person to attain quality sleep.
