Green tea has been a subject of many studies recently and the reason for it is because it claimed many benefits. This type of tea originated in China, as well as in some parts of Asia and is recently gaining popularity in US, Europe and Australia because it is said to be a healthier alternative to coffee.

So what are the nutritional benefits of green tea?

First of all, green tea is primarily made from Camellia sinensis. Green tea contains minerals such as manganese, zinc and chromium. As such, this type of tea can help promote healthy bone structure and bone metabolism.

It can also help build essential enzymes that help in building bones. Thus, it also helps prevent dental cavities from developing.

Green tea is also known to contain carotenoids, tocopherols and Vitamin C. It is also known to be rich in epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG, a type of catechins which is known to help prevent heart diseases. With enough consumption of green tea, a person can also help regulate his or her blood pressure.

It has more potent antioxidant which can help reduce cholesterol levels, which allows drinkers to prevent stroke and artery damage. It is also proven to prevent kidney stones and cancer. EGCG, one of the substances found in green tea, can inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It also kills the cancer cells without posing any harm on healthy tissues.

Green tea also helps promote normal functions of the brain and nerve areas of the human body since it contains EGCG. It can help repair damages neurons in a person’s brain, as well as, prevent brain cells from dying. In addition, green tea is also known to prevent rheumatoid arthritis as well as boost a person’s immune system.
