It has become apparent in recent years just how important it is to find answers to the treatment of sleep apnea. And the good news is that there are natural remedies available which can really help manage the sleeping disorder and positively influence sufferers lives.

Now there is no way to run through all the natural remedies for apnea, and how they work, in one article – to do so would need a full book! But to give you a taste of what simply adjusting your natural way of being, and using a couple of natural tricks, you can see the power of natural remedies.

o Develop a pattern. For many people life is hectic. They run around like mad men having to solve this problem and that problem – never allowing themselves to settle into a sleep pattern. But it is essential you do as the more your brain and body gets used to sleeping at a certain time the better prepared the body will be to continue breathing all night.

o Gargling with salt water is a wonderful natural remedy for sleep apnea in those that have an enlarged tonsil (and if you don’t know if you have, try it). It causes the tonsil to shrink allowing a ‘freer’ airway all night.

o Using an extra pillow. By raising your head a few inches you will be tensing muscles you don’t always tense when you are asleep – since one of the reasons for sleep apnea is throat muscles relaxing too much and blocking the airways this can make a big difference.

o Tying a tennis ball to your back. Sound odd? Well it works as a great natural treatment for sleep apnea. If you roll over to sleep on your back at all it can cause mucus to drain into the airway, your tongue to block the throat etc – by having a tennis ball tied to your back you ensure that this is not going to happen as you won’t be comfortable enough to stay in that position if you do roll onto your back.
